Año recovers from 2 heart bypass surgeries
MANILA, Philippines — Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said yesterday he has fully recovered from two heart bypass surgeries when he went on a three-month leave.
“I’m OK (and) fully recovered from heart bypass surgeries. There was a complication on the first one so they had to re-do it,” Año told Teleradyo.
Año, also vice chairman of the National Task Force Against COVID-19, first tested positive for the virus in March last year. He was infected for the second time in August 2020.
“After my second bout with COVID-19 last year, I felt different. I gasped for breath easily and my heart was beating too fast,” he said.
Año said he needed to stay in the hospital for two months because of “many complications.”
He returned to work last month after being cleared by his doctors.
