5 San Juan vaccination hub employees get COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Five employees of the FilOil Flying V Center, also known as the San Juan arena, where the city government has been rolling out its vaccination drive against COVID-19, have tested positive for the virus.
A statement from FilOil yesterday said the employees are assigned at the arena’s administration office.
FilOil clarified the workers never had direct contact and interaction with city hall employees, members of the vaccination staff and those who got vaccinated.
“They were always in their offices, away from the people, be they employees of the city or vaccinees,” it said in a statement.
It added the employees were immediately isolated after their results came out.
Mayor Francis Zamora condemned what he described as malicious messages alleging that the city hall was the source of a recent cluster of cases among a number of staff at the arena.
“While it is true that a small number of staff tested positive, these people have no direct interaction with any city hall employees and our health workers,” Zamora said in a statement
The city government chose the arena as the venue for vaccination as it can accommodate more than 4,000 people while maintaining physical distancing protocols and other minimum public health standards.
As part of their safety measures, Zamora ordered a three-day disinfection of the area starting yesterday.
