12 held for illegal cockfight in Marikina

MANILA, Philippines — Twelve people were arrested for betting on an illegal cockfight or tupada in violation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) protocols in Marikina City on Friday.

Benito Jamila, 43; Jose Relusio, 46; Edmund Bacungan, 39; Eliseo Belen, 48; Zaldy Tejadan, 58; Joni Cortez, 42; Wilfred Panesa, 27; Becar Lambojo, 31; Mark Anthony Chavez, 30; Ramil Oracio,
33; Jerome Panesa, 32, and Teofilo Astorga Jr., 37, were accosted in Barangay Tumana at around 10:15 a.m., said Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, Eastern Police District chief.

Seized from them were two fighting cocks and P2,200 in cash.

Baccay said police officers went to the area after a concerned citizen informed them of a cockfight along Angel Santos street.
