2 barred from leaving over fake documents

MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipinas intending to work in the United Arab Emirates have been prevented from boarding their flights at the Clark International Airport for having fake working documents.

The women, who were believed victims of human trafficking, reportedly presented fake overseas employment certificates and employment contracts to immigration officers.

The officers referred the women to the travel control enforcement unit for further verification with the on-duty labor assistance center officer.

The labor officer confirmed the documents were fake and were not verified with the Philippine Overseas Labor office in Dubai.

The women said they received their employment contracts a day before their flights from an agent they met online.
