ASF hits 3 more Leyte barangays

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — Three more barangays in San Jose district in this city have been affected by African swine fever (ASF).

City veterinarian Eunice Alcantara said the swine disease was confirmed to have spread to backyard farms in Barangays 89, 78 and 81. The first ASF case here was detected in Barangay 84.

Alcantara ordered the culling of pigs within the 500-meter radius of infected hogs while farmers are prevented from raising pigs for 90 days.
