Quakes rock Davao
MANILA, Philippines — Two mild earthquakes rocked parts of Davao region yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first quake, a magnitude-3.6, occurred at 10:55 a.m., with its epicenter located eight kilometers northwest of Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte.
Instrumental Intensity 1 was recorded in Malungon, Sarangani.
The second quake, with magnitude-4.7, occurred at 12:34 p.m. some 78 kilometers southeast of Sarangani town in Davao Occidental.
It was recorded at Instrumental Intensity 1 in General Santos City and South Cotabato as well as in the towns of Alabel and Malungon, both in Sarangani province.
Instrumental intensity refers to the ground shaking detected by seismic instruments.
No damage or aftershocks were expected from the temblors, Phivolcs said.
