PNP lawyer who tested positive for shabu axed

MANILA, Philippines — A lawyer for the Philippine National Police (PNP) was sacked from his post yesterday after he tested positive for shabu.

PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas ordered the relief of Efren Garcia, chief of the legal affairs division of the Internal Affairs Service Central Luzon field office.

Garcia will undergo pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings for grave misconduct, Sinas said.

“Let me reiterate that there is no place in the PNP for personnel who are into drugs,” he said.

Garcia was found positive for shabu during a random drug test on Feb. 24. A confirmatory test on his urine specimen on Feb. 26 yielded the same result.
