Pangasinan village exec shot dead

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan, Philippines — A village councilman was gunned down in Barangay Longos Proper in this town on Monday.

Rodrigo Patchita, 54, was on his way to the barangay hall when he was shot by unidentified men in a black Toyota Fortuner. He died while being treated in a hospital.

In Batangas City, businesswoman Chen Ling Ling was found dead in her store in Barangay Cuta yesterday.

Chen’s body, which bore stab wounds, was discovered by her helper Roldan Yuga at around 5 a.m.

Col. Rex Malimban, Batangas police director, said probers are eyeing robbery as the motive for the killing. –  Ed Amoroso
