Family of 5 trapped in fire; girl dies

MANILA, Philippines — A five-year-old girl died while her parents and two siblings were injured after they were trapped in a fire that razed their house in Makati before dawn yesterday.

The girl was pronounced dead on arrival in the hospital, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Her parents and siblings, aged two and eight, remain confined at the Sta. Ana Hospital.

Arson probers said the fire broke out at the victims’ house along H. Santos street in Barangay Tejeros at around 1:30 a.m.

The fire was declared under control at around 2:22 a.m. Six fire trucks reponded to the scene.

Arson investigators said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
