MANILA, Philippines — Around 10,000 individuals from Pasig City who evacuated at the height of Typhoon Ulysses were allowed to go home as floods have receded, Mayor Vico Sotto said yesterday.

Sotto said the families received grocery food packs and other relief items before they were sent home.

“Sisiguraduhin natin na may matutuluyan ang mga pamilyang hindi pa makauwi (We will make sure the ones who cannot yet go home will have shelter),” he said in a Facebook post.

He apologized to about 4,000 evacuees who did not receive hot meals on time as volunteers of their community kitchen where overwhelmed.

Sotto said around 99 percent of the floodwater in the city receded as of yesterday morning.

Power supply for about 9,000 houses in Pasig have not been restored,” he said.
