Soldier in PMA shooting dies

MANILA, Philippines — An Air Force member who shot two of his colleagues at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City on Wednesday has died.

Baguio police director Col. Allen Rae Co said Airman 2nd Class Christopher Lim, who was wounded when one of the victims wrested control of his gun, died while being treated at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center at around 2:24 p.m. on the same day.

“We are still waiting for the official autopsy report,” Co said in a text message when asked about Lim’s injuries.

S/Sgt. Vivencio Raton remains in critical condition in the same hospital, where S/Sgt. Joefrey Turqueza was pronounced dead on arrival.

Lim reportedly went amuck in the personnel barracks and shot Turqueza and Raton.

Co said Lim was suffering from mental illness.
