70 more cops catch COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Seventy more Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, according to results released on Monday night.

PNP spokesman Col. Ysmael Yu said 25 of the new patients are assigned in Ilocos, 20 in Metro Manila, nine in Western Visayas, seven in Calabarzon, four in Central Luzon and one each in Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Soccsksargen.

The number of infected PNP personnel is now 5,462.

The death toll remains at 17 while 1,320 or 24.16 percent of the patients are undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the obstetrics and neonatal wards at theBulacan Medical Center, were placed on lockdown after new cases were recorded.

Visitors were barred at the provincial police office and provincial jail after several police personnel and inmates were infected.

The provincial hospital, jail and police headquarters are all in the Bulacan capitol compound in Malolos City.
