NPA arms cache seized in Negros
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Military operations against communist guerrillas on Negros Island on Thursday led to the recovery of an arms cache and the arrest of a New People’s Army (NPA) rebel.
Maj. Cenon Pancito III, 3rd Infantry Division spokesman, said two M16 rifles, eight .38-caliber revolvers, two improvised shotguns and a magazine for an M14 were recovered in Sitio Bungao, Barangay Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
Suspected NPA rebel Joselito Ebarle was arrested.
Pancito said a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .22 revolver and seven backpacks, which contained personal belongings and subversive documents, were recovered following an encounter with another group of rebels in Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
Assorted guns and explosives were also recovered in Sitio Amian, Barangay Tan-awan in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
