Ex-soldier held for kidnap

MANILA, Philippines — A former Army trooper allegedly involved in kidnap for ransom has been arrested by personnel of the police Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) in Barangay 186, Caloocan City.

Diosito Sagrada was apprehended based on a warrant issued by Judge Lumina Roque of the San Pablo City, Laguna Regional Trial Court for kidnapping with homicide, AKG director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said.

Sagrada joined the Army in 1990 but went AWOL or absent without leave in 1995.

He allegedly joined the Pangilinan kidnap ring operating in Caloocan and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
