Drug suspect shot dead

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A drug suspect was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in this city on Sunday night.

Norman Sola, 48, died from multiple gunshot wounds in the body, according to Capt. Leo Estopa, chief of the city police station 2.

Sola surrendered under the Oplan Tokhang campaign last year.

Probers are eyeing a personal grudge and drugs as possible motives for the killing.

As this developed, police on Sunday identified the bodies found in Bago City on Aug. 27.

Cristo Rey Genolos, 30, was positively identified by his wife, and Ruben Cardeñas by his parents, according to Maj. John Joel Batusbatusan, acting Bago City police chief.

The victims bore multiple gunshot wounds and were hogtied when found by residents in Barangay Atipuluan.

Probers recovered bullet shells for a rifle and a note near the bodies that read in the local dialect: “Don’t emulate me, I am a drug pusher.”
