BOC seizes P4.5 million shabu stuffed in chocolate cans
MANILA, Philippines — An estimated P4.5 million worth of shabu stashed in two cans of chocolate wafer from Las Vegas, Nevada was confiscated by the Bureau of Customs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last week, the BOC reported yesterday.
Customs examiners said they were checking unclaimed shipment for disposal when they discovered the contraband.
BOC records showed that the shipment was consigned to a resident of Hagonoy, Bulacan.
Customs officials said the cargo was declared as stuffed toys, candies, slippers, socks and chocolate wafers.
The drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The BOC said charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Customs Modernization and Tariff Act would be filed against the importers of the shipment.
