3 hurt in Quezon City condo fire

MANILA, Philippines — Three children were injured when a fire broke out at a condominium building in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Arson probers said the fire struck the Green condominium in Barangay New Era at around 2:56 a.m. and reached the first alarm before it was contained at around 3:33 a.m.

The blaze started in one of the condominium units, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The victims aged two, 10, and 15 were rushed to the hospital for treatment of second degree burns.

Probers said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Damage to property was placed at P20,000.

In Barangay Novaliches, a two-story commercial building along Susano Road was hit by a fire at around 2:35 a.m.

The BFP said the fire originated from one of the cell phone stalls on the ground floor.

Firefighters took at least seven hours to put out the blaze.

In Manila, a fire razed a warehouse, damaging residential structures and causing traffic jams in Tondo on Wednesday night.

According to arson investigators, at least P19 million worth of property was destroyed after the fire struck the warehouse at the corner of Bambang and Narra streets at around 10:45 p.m.

The building is reportedly owned by Xu Jing Feng.

The warehouse contained fabric, flashlights, doorknobs, medical supplies and other products, according to the BFP.
