MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday reminded bus drivers to comply with the speed limit on EDSA after a driver figured in a viral video speeding and knocking down concrete barriers.

MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago yesterday said the driver of Joanna Jesh Transport bus was fined P1,000 for speeding, P500 for reckless driving and P150 for disregarding traffic signs. The agency will also recommend the suspension of his driver’s license.

The driver, whom she did not name, was caught on video speeding along the southbound lane in front of Camp Aguinaldo on July 17.

The bus, part of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 bus augmentation fleet, knocked down two barriers, one of which grazed a passing van.

Pialago reminded bus drivers that the speed limit along EDSA for buses is 50 kilometers per hour.
