Slain teen’s OFW ma seeks justice

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The mother of a 15-year-old girl shot dead after filing a complaint against two police officers is crying for justice for her daughter.

“Sana mabigyan ng hustisya ang pagkamatay ng anak ko sa kamay ng dalawang hinihinalang nang-rape at pumatay sa kanya na pulis sa Ilocos Sur,” the mother said upon her arrival on Monday from Kuwait, where she has been working.

She is among the more than 2,000 overseas Filipino workers who arrived on separate flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

S/Sgts. Randy Ramos and Marawi Torda of the San Juan police were relieved from their posts over the incident.

The mother of the victim said she had a video chat with her daughter on June 30 during which the teenager told her she wanted a new dress and that she would wait for her return this month.

She said she was just waiting for the result of her swab test so she could return to Cabugao town in Ilocos Sur to bury her daughter.

The victim and her cousin had just filed a complaint against Ramos and Torda for acts of lasciviousness and rape, respectively, when she was gunned down by motorcycle-riding men on July 2.

The victims were reportedly accosted by two police officers for quarantine violations on July 1.

”They are not men in uniform, but animals who deserve to be jailed for life. Walang awa, walang puso, walang kwentang pulis,” Philippine National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa had said.
