PNP personnel with coronavirus tops 900

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-seven more police officers have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the number of infections in the Philippine National Police to 942.

PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said test results released yesterday showed that 19 of the new patients are assigned in Central Visayas, 14 in Metro Manila, two in Calabarzon and one each in Central Luzon and Western Visayas.

PNP records show that 419 or 44.43 percent of the patients have recovered. The death toll remains at nine.

At least 1,915 other PNP personnel who have manifested symptoms of the virus or interacted with infected patients are being monitored.

Lt. Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, PNP deputy chief for administration, said they would limit face-to-face transactions with civilians as a precautionary measure.
