MANILA, Philippines — The suspected leader of a drug ring was arrested during a sting in Tondo, Manila yesterday after months of police surveillance.

Alexander Morales, 28, was tagged by the Manila Police District as a high-value target.

Morales was nabbed by anti-narcotics operatives at the corner of Asuncion and Sandico streets in Barangay 35 shortly after he allegedly sold shabu to a policeman who posed as a buyer.

Police said they recovered around P309,400 worth of drugs from the suspect.

Morales’ group was busted after its members, including three women, were collared  in a series of police operations last week.

Probers said Morales and his group were allegedly responsible for the proliferation of drugs in Tondo’s District 2.
