ANTIPOLO, Philippines — The emergency room for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 cases of a hospital in Antipolo City, Rizal has been shut down after 19 medical and non-medical personnel were exposed to an infected patient.
Although the emergency room of the Rizal Provincial Hospital Annex has been sanitized, the city government decided to extend its closure, according to Mayor Andrea Ynares said.
“We decided to continue the temporary closure after our contact tracing discovered that 19 medical and non-medical frontliners were exposed to a patient,” Ynares said in a statement issued yesterday.
The city government assured the public that it is working to resume sooner the operations of the emergency room.
As of Saturday, Antipolo recorded eight new cases, bringing the city’s total cases to 340. It also recorded 35 deaths and 164 recoveries.
In Cainta, the Karangalan Market has been under lockdown for four days as of yesterday after a market employee tested positive for the virus.
