2 Chinese POGO workers nabbed
MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese men working for a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) in Makati were arrested on Thursday for allegedly illegally detaining a Chinese woman.
Yang Hong, 38, and Hu Shuangling, 33, were taken into police custody along with their Filipina cohort Gemma Alquizadas, 25, corporate secretary of the POGO firm.
Yang and Hu allegedly detained Tang Fei, 27, in a condominium unit in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo on June 29, according to a police report.
Probers said the suspects allegedly demanded P3 million in exchange for the victim’s release.
Tang’s friends reported the incident to the city police that launched an operation, resulting in the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects allegedly offered the police P100,000 in exchange for dropping the charges against them.
