MANILA, Philippines — At least 36 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P244.8 million were seized  from two suspected drug pushers who were killed during an alleged shootout with police in Parañaque City yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat, director of the Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) identified the suspects as Chinese citizen Jin Long Cai and his Filipino companion Danny Apiga.

Caramat said the operation is related to last Thursday’s raid on a house in Marilao, Bulacan, where 756 kilos of shabu valued at around P5.1 billion were confiscated.

“It is part of our follow-up operation,” he said in a text message.

Police shot the suspects after they allegedly fought back during a sting in front of the Uniwide Coastal Mall in Barangay Tambo at around 4:30 p.m.

Caramat said the suspects had just sold P2 million worth of shabu to an undercover police operative when they pulled out handguns after sensing it was an entrapment operation.

The two suspects were killed during the shootout while there were no casualties among the police officers. Two .45 caliber pistols were reportedly found in their possession.

The drugs, packed in plastic wrappers with Chinese labels, were found in a Kia sedan the suspects used in the transaction.

In Caloocan City, Isagani Ancheta and Joseph delos Angeles were arrested in a sting in Barangay 33 on Friday night.

Police confiscated 60 grams of shabu, packed in four sachets, valued at P408,000. Marc Jayson Cayabyab
