Magnitude 6.6 quake hits Davao

DAVAO, Philippines — A 6.6-magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Davao Oriental yesterday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at 4:50 p.m., was located 172 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso town.

The temblor was felt at Intensity 3 in Kiamba, Sarangani and Intensity 2 in General Santos City.

Phivolcs said aftershocks could occur, but there is no expected damage from the quake.Romina Cabrera, Roel Pareño
