Pasig barangay hall shut down as village exec gets COVID

MANILA, Philippines — A barangay hall in Pasig City was shut down after an official tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, Mayor Vico Sotto announced yesterday.

Sotto said the barangay hall of Barangay Sto. Tomas was closed for disinfection.

He said barangay officials and personnel would undergo quarantine and testing for COVID-19.

“We will subject all close contacts of the official to PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing to ensure their safety,” he said.

Residents of the barangay have been directed to defer to the city administrator’s office at city hall for barangay clearances and other concerns.

There were 12 cases of COVID-19 in Barangay Sto. Tomas.

As of June 2, Pasig recorded 625 COVID-19 infections with 253 recoveries and 73 deaths.
