Virus-infected cops now 298

A total of 1,318 police officers are being monitored after showing symptoms of the virus.

MANILA, Philippines — Seventeen members of the Philippine National Police have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019, bringing to 298 the number of PNP personnel infected with COVID-19.

Of the number, the PNP said 147 have recovered from the disease. The number of deaths stood at four.

PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said 147 police officers are either undergoing treatment in hospitals or under home quarantine.

A total of 1,318 police officers are being monitored after showing symptoms of the virus.

The PNP on Tuesday opened its own Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction testing facility at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

The testing center, exclusively for police officers and their dependents, can process as much as 150 tests per day.
