Cop in gas station heist shot dead

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Unidentified assailants shot dead a police officer tagged in a gas station robbery in Cauayan City, Isabela on Sunday.

Lt. Oliver Tolentino, 37, was sitting in front of his sister’s house in Barangay San Fermina when he was killed at around 12:45 p.m.

Tolentino was declared dead on arrival at the Dr. Ester Garcia Medical Center from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Tolentino, who was out on a bail, was facing charges along with two others for allegedly breaking into MCE gasoline station in Barangay Dangan, Reina Mercedes town on March 29, according to Cagayan Valley police director Brig. Gen. Angelito Casimiro.  He surrendered to the Cauayan City police hours after the robbery.

His alleged cohorts, identified as Samson Pagadduan and Efren Adelan, 40, were arrested in Cauayan City a day after the heist.
