MANILA, Philippines — A police officer died when his motorcycle rammed an acacia tree in Barangay Pinagkurusan, Alitagtag, Batangas, before dawn yesterday.
S/Sgt. Rex Catapang was taken to the Martin Marasigan District Hospital in Cuenca, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In Tanauan City, four soldiers were injured when their truck fell into a ravine in Barangay Banadero at around 5 a.m.
The military truck was on its way to Laurel town to bring relief goods to victims of Taal Volcano’s unrest when the accident occurred.
The victims were initially taken to the CP Reyes Hospital then transferred to the Camp Guillermo Nakar Hospital in Lucena City.
