2 kids die as man runs amok
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A man was arrested after he ran amok in Barangay Pacuan, La Libertad, Negros Oriental on Sunday, killing two children and wounding five others.
Police said the fatalities are an eight-year-old and a two-year-old.
The grandparents of the fatalities and three other children aged 14, 12 and five were wounded.
Initial reports showed that Joan Isidro, who was armed with a knife, barged into the house of the victims, who were sleeping, and went on a stabbing spree.
Col. Julian Entoma, Negros police officer-in-charge, said probers are eyeing a family feud as the motive.
It has yet to be determined if the suspect is suffering from a mental illness.
The victims are left to the care of their grandparents because their parents are working in Cebu.
