Nueva Ecija bridge, Magat flood control project completed

Jose Rodel Clapano, Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Residents in low-lying areas around Magat Dam are now protected from flashfloods.

Loreta Malaluan, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Cagayan Valley regional director, said the P122-million Magat River flood control project, which is designed to minimize water overflow during heavy rains, has been completed.

Also completed is the reconstruction of Labi Bridge along the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road worth P163 million.

The DPWH said floodings spawned by Typhoons Kabayan, Lando and Nona in 2015 affected the structural integrity of the bridge.

The DPWH has implemented P2.025 trillion worth of projects since 2016. Last year, P696.3 billion infrastructure facilities were completed.
