MANILA, Philippines — Two teenagers were arrested with 37 kilos of marijuana valued at P4.4 million in Baseco Compound, Manila yesterday.
Celedonio Sorio, 18, and Arnel Laparan, 19, were arrested in the sting jointly operated by the Manila Police District’s Ermita station and the Northern Police District.
Police seized 38 bricks and 28 plastic packs of marijuana and a sachet of kush from the suspects.
The sting was the result of a follow-up operation to a previous drug bust in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig on Dec. 24, 2019 that resulted in the arrest of four persons and the seizure of five kilos of marijuana.
At the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), a student identified as Renz Martin Labios was arrested after claiming a parcel found to contain four packs of kush, a high-grade variety of marijuana, and 10 cartridges of liquid marijuana with a street value of P200,000.
The parcel, declared to contain a pair of shoes and chocolate, was consigned to a certain Xavier Martin Buloz and sent by Brie Martin of Hayward, California.
In Las Piñas City, Allen Ceballos, 25, was arrested in a sting before dawn yesterday.
Police seized 35.5 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P241,400 from the suspect.
His companion, Erwin Dizon, 25, escaped, police said.
William Manlangit, 40, was arrested in another sting along Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City on Monday night. Police seized 8.8 grams of shabu valued at P59,840 from him.
In Pasay, Maria Luzviminda Santos, 63, and Kristel Nabor Arriola, 34, were arrested in a drug bust. Police said the two women are on the city’s drug watchlist.
Five grams of shabu valued at P34,000 were seized from the two suspects.
In Quezon City, Sherwin dela Cruz, 37; Joel Madanlog, 45, and Jomar Soria, 39, were arrested in a sting at a basketball court in Barangay Project 6 at past 7 p.m. Monday.
At least 50 grams of shabu with a street value of P340,000 were found in their possession.
Jolina dela Cruz, 21, was caught with 10 grams of shabu in a raid on her home in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. – With Rudy Santos, Ralph Edwin Villanueva, Emmanuel Tupas
