Makati kidnap: 2 persons of interest eyed
MANILA, Philippines — Police are considering two persons of interest in the alleged kidnapping of a Chinese woman said to be an employee of a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) in Makati on Tuesday.
City police chief investigator Maj. Gideon Ines said they found inconsistencies in the statement of Chen Tangbin, partner of supposed kidnapped victim Zhou Mei, 28.
Probers are also looking for Jian Wei after an envelope was left at the scene where Zhou was reportedly kidnapped.
The envelope contained a photocopy of a deed of sale between Chen and Jian, a passport and car registration of Zhou, police said.
Zhou was seen in a viral video being dragged by three Chinese men into a Kia Carnival at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Nieva streets.
Justice Undersecretary Secretary Markk Perete said the Bureau of Immigration is coordinating with the police to identify those involved in the alleged kidnapping of the POGO worker.
