Ambushed radioman dies

TACURONG CITY, Philippines — A radio broadcaster who was wounded in an attack in this city in October has died in a hospital in Davao.

Benjie Caballero of Radyo ni Juan FM station passed away at past 3 a.m. yesterday.

Two of four bullets that hit Caballero during the attack by a still unidentified assailant on Oct. 31 pierced his lungs.

The victim was first confined at the St. Louis Hospital in this city.

Caballero was immediately buried by relatives in M’lang, North Cotabato as part of an Islamic tradition of burying the dead within 24 hours from the time of death.
