CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The Antipolo Regional Trial Court (RTC) has issued an arrest warrant for 20 police officers in connection with a shooting incident in Cainta that killed two persons, including a security aide of a lawyer.

The warrant, dated Oct. 22 and released on Nov. 7, was signed by Judge Miguel Asuncion of the Antipolo RTC-Fourth Judicial Region Branch 99.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the officers, who were charged with two counts each of murder.

Among those ordered arrested were six members of the Rizal police, four from the Highway Patrol Group and 10 officers of the regional special operations group.

Killed in the incident that occurred in December were Richard Red Santillan and his female companion.

Santillan was a driver of losing senatorial candidate and lawyer Glenn Chong.

The court ordered the National Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Philippine National Police to serve the warrant for the accused police officers.

It directed the Bureau of Immigration to include the 20 in the hold order list.

Santillan was driving Chong’s car when he allegedly engaged the officers in a shootout.

The victims were on their way home from a gift-giving activity in Cainta.
