Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA,Philippines — The state weather bureau is monitoring two low-pressure areas in Surigao del Norte and Zamboanga del Norte.

The first weather system, which is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), was estimated at 135 kilometers east of Surigao City.

Another low-pressure area  within the ITCZ was estimated at 185 kms east of Dipolog City.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, the Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the low-pressure areas and ITCZ.

Meanwhile, Ilocos, the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rains because of the northeast monsoon.

PAGASA said the rest of the country would experience cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
