LRT-2 resumes free rides for students

MANILA, Philippines — Starting today, students can avail themselves again of free rides at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2).

Students will not be charged for taking the train from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. and between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., according to the Light Rail Transit Authority, which operates the LRT-2.

The management suspended the free rides for students after the LRT-2 implemented limited trips from Cubao station in Quezon City to Recto station in Manila.

Free rides are available only on weekdays, except holidays.

The LRT-2 announced that its operations would start at 5 a.m. from Cubao to Recto stations.

The Santolan and Katipunan stations would remain closed. The Anonas station would resume operations soon, according to the LRT-2 management.
