Truckload of meat products held

The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — A truck loaded with at least 3,500 kilos of meat and meat products was held at a checkpoint in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur on Saturday.

The checkpoint was part of the efforts to prevent the spread of African swine fever.

Police said truck driver Marcelino Ramos Jr., 38, failed to present meat inspection and transport documents when he was pulled over in Barangay Bio.

During inspection, authorities found raw meat and assorted meat products believed to be from Bulacan, one of the provinces affected by swine fever.
