3 soldiers die in Agusan Sur road mishap

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — Two vehicles collided along the highway in Purok 18, Barangay Poblacion, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, leaving three soldiers dead.  

Police identified the fatalities as Pfcs. Eldryn Mendoza and Arden Sumpio and 2nd Lt. Mary Joy Salentes. 

Businessman Jaime Lao, 48, and First Lt. Robert Ching were injured.  

Initial investigation showed a Toyota Fortuner owned by the Bayugan City government and driven by Mendoza crashed into a Starex van driven by Lao. The accident occurred while Lao was overtaking the sport utility vehicle.
