Farmer killed pregnant wife, hurt son in North Cotabato hacking
NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — A farmer killed his pregnant wife using a machete and wounded his four-year-old son and another in a hacking rampage Thursday in Mlang municipality.
The 31-year-old attacker, Elmer Gulmayo, is now in the custody of the Mlang municipal police.
Gulmayo, a resident of Barangay Pulang Lupa in Mlang, North Cotabato was restive and was heard by neighbors murmuring alone, loudly cursing relatives repeatedly prior to the incident.
Witnesses said she first killed his wife, Marilou, 35, and attacked and wounded a relative named Eliterio Pastolero, 59, when he tried to intervene.
Gulmayo’s four-year-old son was also wounded in the hacking frenzy.
The victims are now confined in a hospital.
The Mlang municipal police sought the help of the Provincial Health Office to examine Gulmayo whom investigator believe was suffering from a mental problem.
