MANILA, Philippines — Motorists are advised to find alternate routes after the Tomas Claudio Bridge in Pandacan, Manila was closed on Saturday night, the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) said yesterday.

The bridge will be closed for around six months to allow for its repair and the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 elevated expressway.

More than 12,000 motorists are expected to be affected by the closure of the bridge, which connects Valenzuela street in Sta. Mesa and Quirino Avenue.

All motorists going to Sta. Mesa should go straight to Labores street, turn right on Jesus street and left on Jacinta Zamora Bridge, the MDTEU said.

Another alternative is to go through Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard then turn right on Old Sta. Mesa.

Motorists going to South Luzon Expressway from Old Sta. Mesa or Jacinto Zamora Bridge may use the open median island lane then turn left on Beata street to their destination.

Motorists coming from Sta. Mesa may pass through Lubiran Street, turn right on New Panaderos, straight to Pedro Gil street up to Quirino Avenue to their destination.

Those coming from Tejeron street or J.P. Rizal Avenue can go straight to Dr. M. Carreon street, straight to Menandro street, turn right on Laura street to their destination.

Drivers of heavy vehicles can take Beata and Jesus streets to Quirino Avenue.
