Magnitude 5 quake jolts North Samar
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake hit Northern Samar yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at around 1:28 a.m., was located 33 kilometers northeast of Pambujan town.
The tremor was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Pambujan, Catarman, Mondragon and Bobon, all in Northern Samar.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Virac, Catanduanes and Mapanas, Northern Samar and Intensity 2 in the cities of Legazpi and Sorsogon.
Phivolcs said there was no reported damage, but aftershocks might occur.
