Cop shot dead in Palawan

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer was gunned down in Aborlan, Palawan yesterday.

M/Sgt. Nelzahib Aizo, was walking near his house in Barangay Plaridel when he was shot. The assailant fled toward Narra town.

A manhunt for the gunman is underway.

In Cagayan de Oro, M/Sgt. Jose Ryan Sevilleno and S/Sgt. Arman Tagolimot were wounded in an alleged misencounter in Barangay Puerto on Thursday night.

Initial investigation showed Tagolimot was conducting surveillance on a certain Jojo Rosales, who is wanted for murder, when the suspect opened fire.  

Sevilleno, who was in the area, mistook Tagolimot as the suspect and shot the police officer.
