Businessman yields P8-M party drugs

MANILA, Philippines — A 44-year-old businessman was arrested yesterday for alleged possession of P8.7 million worth of party drugs in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Domingo Tanyao Uy Jr., of Balete Drive, Quezon City, allegedly yielded Ecstasy pills, cocaine and Kush, a high-grade form of marijuana.

Taguig police chief Col. Alexander Santos said they also recovered P720,346 in cash and dollar bills from Uy.

The suspect is being held by police on charges of selling and possessing illegal drugs.

In Pasay City, drug suspect Jelfren Abejo, 41, died after he allegedly engaged police in a firefight.

Abejo died from two gunshots to the body.

Cpl. Benigno Calagui Aquino suffered a stab wound inflicted by the suspect.

Police said they recovered from Abejo 17 sachets of shabu, marijuana and a knife. – Ghio Ong
