Navy holds fun run for fallen soldiers

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — More than 2,000 runners joined the Philippine Navy’s fun run on Saturday that seeks to generate funds for the families of fallen soldiers.

The event held in partnership with the Citizen’s Support Your Navy Foundation Philippines Inc. (CSYNFI) was part of the celebration of the 121st anniversary of the Navy on May 27, according to Naval Public Affairs Office chief Capt. Jonathan Zata.

The runners joined sailors and marines in a three, five and 10-kilometer run along Roxas Boulevard.

Aside from promoting healthy lifestyle, Zata said the event aims to generate support for the CSYNFI, a private, non-stock organization that undertakes programs for fallen sailors and their families.
