Court orders arrest of Dayan’s daughter
MANILA, Philippines — A Quezon City court yesterday issued a warrant for the arrest of the daughter of Ronnie Dayan, former driver of detained Sen. Leila de Lima, for failure to appear in the hearing of the senator’s disobedience to summons case.
The Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 34 ordered the arrest of Hannah Mae Dayan, who was supposed to testify as a witness for the prosecution.
Dayan’s lawyer, Heidi Soriano, presented a medical certificate to the court, saying she could not attend the proceedings because she is pregnant.
Filibon Tacardon, counsel for De Lima, said the judge did not accept the medical certificate because it was not notarized.
The younger Dayan has testified during a hearing of the House of Representatives that she received a text message from De Lima requesting her not to allow her father to appear during the inquiry.
The court set the next hearing on De Lima’s case on June 19.
