MRT passenger ?nabbed for bullets

MANILA, Philippines — A passenger of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) was arrested yesterday for carrying bullets at the North Avenue station in Quezon City.

Don Ray Adina 36, was apprehended by MRT security guards during inspection at around 7:30 a.m.

Capt. Rohaina Asalan, spokesperson for the  Quezon City Police District, said Adina was found to be carrying a magazine for a .45-caliber handgun loaded with eight bullets.

The suspect is being held by police on charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) reminded the passengers not to carry firearms, ammunition and other weapons inside the train stations.

The DOTr said strict security measures would continue to be implemented at the MRT to ensure the safety of the passengers.
