34 unlicensed guns, bombs surrendered in Sultan Kudarat

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of 17 barangays in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat surrendered 34 loose firearms and explosives on Tuesday.

Isulan Mayor Marites Pallasigue led the ceremonial turnover of the firearms to First Mechanized Infantry Brigade commander Col. Efren Baluyot. 

Among those surrendered were M79 grenade launchers, shotguns, caliber. 38 revolvers, caliber .45 pistols, a rocket-propelled grenade, a hand grenade and a rifle grenade.  

“We will continuously collaborate with local government units... in our area of responsibility to strengthen our efforts against loose firearms, especially during the election period,” Lt. Col. Alvin Iyog, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion commander, said. – John Unson
