2 women held for extort try on drug suspect

MANILA, Philippines — Two women were apprehended after they allegedly attempted to extort money from a drug suspect in Quezon City on Saturday night.

They were Summerlyn Antonio, 29, and Myline Romero.

A complainant sought police help after Antonio and Romero allegedly demanded P30,000 in exchange for the release of her relative, who was arrested for drugs last week.

Police said the suspects were nabbed in an entrapment operation along Dominga street in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon.

The suspects allegedly yielded P34,000 worth of shabu, drug paraphernalia and a motorcycle.

According to probers, the suspects had been previously charged with illegal drugs and estafa. 

Fourteen other drug suspects were arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations in Quezon City yesterday.

Police said they seized P10,000 worth of shabu from Jeffrey Yayon, 30, during a sting along Howmart Road in Barangay Baesa.

Rinel Robles, 21, allegedly yielded 11 sachets of shabu during an operation along K-8 street in Barangay Kamias.

Two boys, aged 12 and 13, were nabbed after they were allegedly caught selling drugs along Quirino Highway in Barangay Greater Lagro.

The other suspects were arrested in Barangays Pinyahan, Salvacion, Bagong Pag-asa, Bagumbayan and Tatalon. 

In Binondo, Manila, three men were collared for alleged drug possession.

They were Elmer Sigue, 32; Joel Evangelista, 53, and Jimmy Vasquez, 44.

Police said they were on routine patrol when they chanced upon the suspects playing cara y cruz at the corner of Lara and Delpan streets.

When searched, the suspects allegedly yielded shabu. – Rey Galupo
