Fire leaves 28 Marawi families homeless
MARAWI, Philippines — Twenty-eight families lost their homes to a fire in Marawi City's Barangay Tampilong on Sunday morning.
The governor's office, the city government of Marawi and the social welfare ministry of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are now attending to the needs of the fire victims.
The displaced families are staying in seven large tents but local officials said they will try their best to provide a tent for each of the 28 families.
The victims were among more than 300,000 Marawi City residents affected by the 2017 conflict between government forces and combined members of the Maute and Abu Sayyaf terror groups.
Also called the Marawi Siege, the fighting resulted in the deaths of more than a thousand people and left much of the city in ruins.
